Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You usually owns this time of year, but these three women have delivered tracks that leave seasonal sleigh bells in the dust.
Released on November 3rd, Ariana Grande started the wave with Thank U, Next. In the song, Grande thanks four of her exes: Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson and Mac Miller. Her track has quickly become the anthem for women and men (#JVN) everywhere:

Next, released on November 28, Miley Cyrus teamed up with Mark Ronson for Nothing Breaks Like a Heart, a bangin bop reminiscent of her godmother, Dolly Parton’s Jolene. This track is straight up on repeat, nothing this season, not even a snow-covered Mariah, can break through. I even closed down a family holiday dinner with the track. Slay, Miley, Slay.
Tay Tay took over Netflix on New Year’s Eve and I must admit, I took part in attempting to break the internet on its release day. Kudos to Netflix for holding up. Whatever you think of Taylor Swift, damn she can put on a production, mesmerizing, I watched full screen, absolutely no multi tasking. I even answered a text with, ‘Tay Tay Live, who dis?’ Pausing was not an option. Brilliant to release on New Years Eve, I know my 9 year old niece is all over this while her mom clinks champagne glasses in the next room.
Look what all the haters and doubters made Taylor do – rise up bigger and badder than fucking ever. Ladies, you rose and delivered so hard, so powerful, so bangin, not the first seasonal track could get through. Let’s all rise up and take on 2019 like these women. Happy New Year everyone!
