All my low brow hits are coming back this summer, and I can't wait to make root beer floats and make it a Neflix/Hulu/Freeform/NBC night! This is especially needed after a questionable TV season with Riverdale jumping the Snakes and sharks (yet I still watch), Kevin Probably Saves the World–but not himself from an unjust cancellation, iZombie dropped the zom-rom-com-dram and went full apocalyptic, and whatever went down, and ultimately out, on Lethal Weapon.
But that is the not-so-distant past, Famous in Love was the warm-up spring, but this is the cool for the summer oh-so-near future. World of Dance comes back first, I need to see my favorites return–The Lab and Eva Igo! Yes! And yes! The live tweeting (actually texting) that this show inspires only rivals that of the Gilmore Girls reboot, but much more favorable. The Bold Type, this generation's Sex and the City, with more careers, and less bickering, Jane Kat and Sutton are my new NYC BFFs. Plus they get bonus points for rad promotional posters–well done, Freeform. In second place for promotional posters is Queer Eye, but they're first in my heart, so I think they'll be alright. Unless they return with only 8 episodes, then we'll have a problem. And last on the deliciously low brow summer roster is Young and Hungry. I know! I can't help it! While it's the final season, I shed no tears, I admire their choice to leave the party while it's still hot.
So grab your favorite vegan ice cream (Cashew-topia, of course) and a bottle of Virgil's Root Beer (not the Zero version) and let's get this streaming party started!
